The materials in this collection were created from 1970-2010. The bulk of the collection includes posters and publications. The posters pertain to Chicano Theatre and rallies through the 70s and 80s. The theater productions were produced by El Teatro Campesino, Teatro de la Gente, and Teatro Urbano. The collection also contains publications of theatre programs, magazines and newspapers. Some of the magazines and newspapers include El Foro del Pueblo, Huelga, and La Raza. In addition, the collection contains photographs of the guerrilla military and political organization in El Salvador, Fuerzas Populares de Liberacion (FPL). The collection contains information and history of Chicano/Latino struggles and activism during the Chicano movement in Los Angeles.

Series I: Newspapers Inclusive Dates: 1970-1986 Arrangement: Alphabetical and thereunder chronological

This large series consists of newspapers reflecting the ideas and feelings of the Chicano/Latino community during the 70s and 80s. The bulk of this series consists of the newspaper El Foro del Pueblo. The newspaper was founded in 1980 by Magdalena Mora. This series also includes the newspaper Huelga by Partido La Raza Unida, an American political party centered on Chicano/Latino nationalism.

Series II: Publications Inclusive Dates: 1961-2006 Arrangement: Alphabetical and thereunder chronological

This large series consists of programs, announcements, newsletters and magazines. The bulk of the series consists of magazines some of the titles include Con Safos, which is a Chicano term that means “with respect.” Con Safos was one of the first groundbreaking Chicano literature of the 60s and 70s. Also included in this series is La Raza and RazaTeca magazine. La Raza was run by activists and members of the Chicano community. The objective of the magazine was to inform, unite, educate, inspire and raise the community’s awareness of movement and social change. RazaTeca magazine sets out to provide information to support and motivate the betterment of the social, economic and political conditions of Chicano/Latino/ Native-American population in the United States. Most of the programs and announcements in this series were produced by El Foro del Pueblo. Noteworthy is El Teatro Primavera Inc. newsletter, which was founded in 1973 for the purpose of mastering and developing the theory and technique of the popular theater for the youth and senior citizens of the Mexican American Communities of Los Angeles.

This small series consists of photographs and contact sheets depicting the Fuerzas Populares de Liberación (FPL), a left wing guerrilla military and political organization in El Salvador.

Series IV: Posters Inclusive Dates: 1970-2010 Arrangement: Alphabetical and thereunder chronological

This series consists of posters featuring Chicano/Latino theatre productions, rallies, festivals and artwork. The bulk of this series consist of Chicano/Latino theatre productions produced by El Teatro Campesino, Grupo Teatro Escambray and Teatro Urbano.

Series V: Ephemera Inclusive Dates: 1970-1980 Arrangement: Alphabetical

This small series consists of political buttons and flags. Political buttons include the National Chicano Moratorium, Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), La Raza Union Party and Mexican American/Latino Voter Registration Alliance.
