This large series consists offive subseries: a. Magazines/Journals, 1968-2002; b. Reports/Studies, 1969-1991; c. Articles, 1966-1996; d. Newsletters, 1971-1989; e. Presentations, 1969-1990; f. Student Papers, 1993, and g. Other Publications. Most noteworthy magazines/journals are Con Safos, La Raza, and La Raza Yearbook. Con Safos and La Raza magazines were one of the first breakthrough Chicano literary periodicals of the 60’s and 70’s. This series also includes Open Letter Newsletter from 1971, which was produced by California State College Los Angeles MECHA Students. Another Newsletter includes Chilam Balam from 1972, which is La Raza Libre Newsletter publication of the University of California Santa Barbara. In addition, a presentation by David Sandoval in 1990 is also included in this series the presentation was to the County of Los Angeles Commission on Human Relations on the Limited life opportunity’s for Black and Latino Youth in Economically depressed areas, the presentation is titled, “Barriers to Achievement: The Need for Remedies.” This series also includes the Educational Opportunity Program Cal State La Video Catalog from 1998 it includes a list of videos within twenty two categories some of which are African American, Art, Asian American, Chicano/Latino/Hispanic, Civil Rights and Community. Also included is a draft from 1976 by Howard S. Erlanger with the collaboration of Fred Persily titled Estrangement, machismo, and gang violence. The draft is titled Estrangement, Political involvement and Gang Violence.
